The majority of pet owners characterize their pets as family members, and those who do are willing to spend more money on them, both for health and wellness and to pamper them. 79% of dog owners and 77% of cat owners consider their dogs or cats part of the family. This is especially true when it comes to older pets. This is according to a new study.
Interestingly, most pet parents also believe that having pets is mutually beneficial for humans and animals. Most owners believe that pets help their health. The survey found that 85% of dog owners and 82% of cat owners agree that their pets have a positive impact on their mental health. Also, 80% of dog owners and 74% of cat owners think that their pets have a positive influence on their physical health.
So it's no surprise that the furry family members are rewarded. 77% of dog owners and 68% of cat owners enjoy purchasing products to pamper their pets. About 43% would rather spend money on toys and other products for their pets than things for themselves.
