Not only can he get heatstroke like humans, but his paws are in direct contact with the roadway.
Luckily, there's a simple trick to tell if it's too hot to walk your dog.
The trick is to place the back of your hand on the floor. If you can't leave it on for 5 seconds, it's too hot to walk your dog. Watch:
1. Place the back of your hand on the pavement.
2. Leave your hand as long as possible.
3. If you don't hold out for more than 5 seconds, it's too hot to walk your dog.
There you go, now you know how to check if the floor is too warm to walk your dog :-)
Practice the 5 second rule, right? If you need to walk your dog and the sidewalk doesn't pass this test, consider going to a shady spot or else on the grass .
This will prevent your dog from burning his paws! And don't forget to bring water so that he is well hydrated.
