More than half of Dutch women (63%) feel better with their dog than with their life partner.
Friends fare even worse. A whopping 74% of the (mainly) female survey participants say they would rather spend time with their dog than with friends. This is apparent from a social media survey conducted by Lucht publishers among 1495 participants.
Dogs are also good for our health, according to the research. As many as 95% of those surveyed feel less lonely and happier thanks to their dog. More than 88% also say that their dog provides a good portion of daily exercise. Honesty, respect and unconditional friendship make the bond between dog and owner so close, according to the participants.
